The VIPS Program
The SJSUPD Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) is for anyone over the age of 18 years. Volunteers may be SJSU students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the local community. Volunteers from all walks of life enhance the program with their diverse life experiences.
The VIPS program provides important resources and services to the SJSU community that would otherwise not be available.

Volunteer Requirements
• Minimum Age - 18 years
• Must pass Criminal History and Background check.
• Volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Application forms are available in the UPD lobby.
